The European top level domain is abbreviated EU and is intended for registration by all citizens and companies from the European Union. The administrator of the European TLD is the EURid association, which administers the .eu domains via accredited registrars.

Rules for creation of an EU domain
- the domain name must contain only the characters [a-z, 0-9, -]
- the name may be at most 63 characters long
- the name must be at least 2 characters long
- the name may not start or end with the "-" character
- the name may not contain two "-" characters in a row
- domains can be registered for 1 year
- domain registrations can be extended for 1 year at a time
- domains can be registered by persons with permanent residence on the territory of an EU member country
- domains can be registered by entrepreneurs and businesses with headquarters in an EU member country
- domains can be registered by organizations founded in an EU member country
Each domain name must be unique. You cannot register a domain name that identical with one already registered. We support IDN EU domain registration - Internationalized Domain Names!

Change of registrar for an EU domain
- change of registrar fees per regulations
- registration online by clicking a link in a confirmation e-mail to the domain bearer
- domain can be transferred within 7 days before domain expiration at the latest
- after change of registrar, domain validity is extended by one year
